We know what you’re going to say: technology’s the bane of humanity! AI’s rampant. No one can trust anyone. Identity theft is on the rise. Pretty soon we’re all going to be terrorized by terminators with big laser guns. We’ve heard it before. But here’s the thing: all the little gadget clubs in the world couldn’t amount to an onslaught of machines even if we tried! Because the truth is tech’s here to stay, and how we use it makes a big difference!
Shaping our well-being with tech starts with ‘why’
Do we use it because it’s cool? Or slick? Or fun? Or sexy? Or “in”? Oh, yes, everyone’s doing it, everyone’s getting the latest iPhone, everyone’s getting the coolest smart fridge for their kitchen; and before you know it, the next best-selling vehicle will be an EV with wings and can be cloaked invisible like something out of Star Trek. Sure, it’s cool.
But is that really why we use the groundbreaking tech of tomorrow? Or is it something more? And that’s part of the challenge: recognizing why we actually use this stuff and reminding ourselves that it’s not about forgetting who we are. It’s about remembering….
How tech really is all about “US”
Data: all of technology centers around it. Leverage the technology you use, and you can understand how you live your life better than you ever have.
- How often are you on your phone?
- What do you surf for?
- How do you shop?
- What do you buy?
- What videos do you watch on YouTube?
The latest tech now tracks all this for good reason. You could pull data from great e-commerce platforms like LittleGadget.Club and realize that you might be in to buying the next earbuds for you to listen to calming music to help you sleep. We do this stuff — buy things we supposedly don’t ‘need’ — without thinking, and we don’t even realize there is a reason — a perfectly valid reason — why we buy those things.
(And, yes, sometimes those things aren’t terribly beneficial, but we’ll get to that).
Here’s the kicker: by leveraging the technology and the data it accumulates to shape a representation of who you are, you get to know yourself so well that you could even discover where you need to improve in your life — whether it’s to try and focus your attention on other things and not the latest XBOX release or self-lacing shoes, or to discover other hidden benefits of why your smart home is fitted with state-of-the-art cameras and sensors (to keep burglars out, of course!).
Using tech to learn what tech you don’t even need is a game changer.
At the end of the day, whatever little gadget club you’re a part of….
Remembering that it’s about you and what’s important to you, not the gadgets themselves, is critical. Because you’re still human. Being ‘connected’ to the Internet doesn’t mean you’re ‘disconnecting’ from yourself. In fact, if by chance you ever get to enjoy nature out in Arizona or Nevada and marvel at the massive stone landscape of the Rocky Mountains, there’s nothing wrong with bringing your iPhone to take pictures, capturing the beauty —
Because you then get to upload all of them onto your Facebook — just to share with all those you call family or friend.
